Audiority Echoes T7E Review at Audio Plugin Guy

A product from

There’s certainly no shortage of delay plugins on the market today. So for one to catch our eye/ears it kinda has to be doing something a little different. The new Echoes T7E from Audiority definitely brings a unique flavour to our delay spice rack and, as such, it gets a review.

The Colour and the Tape

Echoes T7E is another one of those analog emulation plugins. All the rage these days, aren’t they! Well there’s a reason for that… a certain nostalgia for oldy-worldy studio gear but also a growing appreciation of the beauty of uncertainty and saturation that classic gear added to a recording. This time we have a recreation of a vintage tube magnetic echo machine made in Italy in the early ‘60s. (We did some research. It’s based on the Binson Echorec. Nice bit of vintage gear!).

We couldn’t tell you how faithful to the original it is, but then we don’t really care! In our opinion, it’s the results that count, not how well a developer can copy the sound of hardware. You may disagree but we don’t really care about that either.

So, the important thing is how it sounds. And it sounds great. It definitely has that vibe and wonkyness that you would want from some analog emulation and we had endless fun making noises just tweaking the dials whilst recording. You can use this as a delay effect or, as we found, a sound design tool that doesn’t sound ‘digital’. Just stick to 100% wet and ride the speed dial for instant pitch-shifty joy.

Four Headed Monster

To give you a little idea of what it’s doing… these types of delay boxes worked by having tape looping through one or more tape heads. So whatever was recorded to the tape would be played repeatedly. This particular box has four heads and the plugin allows you to use them in any combination and tweak each one’s parameters to taste. You can also control the speed, noise and feedback levels to make some really interesting effects. We can see this being a great delay to have available when some extra organic sound is needed.

Summary - 4.7 / 5

A really lovely sounding delay at a totally reasonable price. The controls available make this unique and not something you can do in one of your more all-encompassing delay plugins. Great for regular analog delay sounds and more fun sound-design applications. We'll be reaching for this plenty.
