Max For Live Audio Effect Designed to Modulate Anything You Want in Ableton Live

Pure Modulation Magic

Thanks to powerful pattern creation and twisting features, Twistor creates modulations that are not possible to obtain with other modulators!

Any Time Resolution

Set the exact time resolution you need for your steps: 1/8, 3/4, 7/8, 3/16T, 15/1D, 13/32 and so on.

Exclusive Step Duration

Set exclusive duration for each step: 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 400% of the global time resolution. This opens to crazy new possibilities!

From steps to ramps: smooth your modulation signal with an interpolation time going from 0 to 100% of time resolution.

Change the movement of the playhead from linear to exponential or logarithmic and enjoy a new kind of groove.

Lock Duration Mode

The lock switch lets you randomize steps duration, all preserving the current length.

Store up to four sequences, then recall them by automation, external controller, or thanks to the exclusive Push2 integration. This injects even more life in your modulation!

How It Works

Twistor is easy to master. You can start considering a classic step sequencer modulator: steps of a given duration sending values to a controlled parameter, according to a time resolution. The main difference with a classic step sequencer is that in Twistor each step can have different duration: by modifying the single step duration, and by manipulating the entire pattern. The modulator signal is scaled by minimal and maximal values, to perfectly fit your target’s range and purposes. You can change the duration of the pattern, changing time resolution, or by using the Rate parameter to let a given length of 1 bar become one half, the double of it, one time and a half, etc, always keeping the same number of steps, and, very important, the sync with Live’s transport!

You can modify the sync position of your pattern with Shift: if you have time resolution equal to 8n, and you set Shift at 50% (the range is 0-100% of the time resolution), then all your sequence will be delayed by 16n. You can use Bend to let the playhead make movements from linear, to exponential, or logarithmic, dynamically changing the duration of each step, always keeping the given length for the whole sequence! Isn’t amazing?!

Let’s talk about the duration of each step. You can modify the duration of each step manually, listening to the results, and keeping an eye on the Resulted Length. This will bring you far from the grid concept, opening to new possibilities: your ears only can evaluate the results. Or, you can choose to go wild, but all staying in the safe sanctuary of the grid, setting the Main Length, locking it with the toggle on bottom right corner of the device, and hitting the random button; Twistor will generate again different durations, but now their sum will always give the original length of the pattern. This feature gives, it’s guaranteed, amazing results!

If needed you can smooth the modulation signal, going from steps to a series of consequent ramps; the range is equal to 0-100% of the time resolution.

Twistor also makes your life easy when you go on stage: you can store, and recall, up to 4 snapshots in a preset!

As often happens with K-Devices, you can accurately control and define each aspect of the multiple features manually, or get inspired by the device, thanks to the advanced random functions included.

The beautiful user interface of Twistor is designed to be self-explanatory: when you edit some parameters, animations on the interface will let you easily understand what the parameter does. Of course, all parameters are also accurately described in the Live Info View.

Push2 and Twistor

If you have Push2, you’ll love the template Twistor brings under your hands! In addition to the standard parameters mapping, you can enable the custom grid for improved control options.

Just tap on a pad, that represents a step, and you’ll be able to quickly edit all parameters for it, getting a smart visual feedback from pads colour. You’ll also get an exclusive copy/paste function to easily transfer parameters value from a step to another!

OOG Series

Twistor is part of OOG series! OOG tools are designed to write music and control instruments and effects with a different approach and new features. Starting as a familiar kind of tools (basically, step sequencers), these devices go beyond the classic functions. Being their engines audio-driven, OOG devices bring sound synthesis and processing technics (as sync, phase distortion, etc) to modulation and MIDI sequences manipulation, opening to new exciting perspectives.

These are killer devices for users that want to go wild with time signatures, complex time, micro articulation, odd grooves, IDM and experimental music; but they are also so versatile and easy to handle! They will become the best partners also for users looking for catchy bass lines, straight beats, and groovy modulations!

OOG devices come with a new, self-explanatory, beautiful user interface. Almost no labels on it, replaced by symbols, each parameter shows its function thanks to graphic animations. Of course, each parameter also is accurately described in the Live Info View.

More OOG devices will be released during 2018.
