Discover the Dirty Little Secret of Synth Enthusiasts
The RingMod (ring modulator) is a well-kept secret of synth enthusiasts and dark hip-hop or dub producers everywhere.
Even though it’s not very well understood and often overlooked, the RingMod has been used in the design of many synthesizers, particularly in the early modular synths (Moogs, Oberheims, etc). Notably, it was also used as the voice of the “Daleks” in the iconic British TV series Dr Who. More recently, ring modulators have been used to make distinctive dub-bass wobbles and some of the weirder noises you hear in Amon Tobin’s music, for instance.
The Most Versatile Ring Modulator
Stagecraft’s RingMod is a fully-featured ring modulation plugin. In addition to performing a synced ring mod transform, the plugin includes a built-in Flanger, Chorus, and Filter. All oscillators can be optionally synced to any common variant of the bpm (quarter note, triplets, etc). Unlike other ring mods, this plugin also allows 5 different types of waveforms and pulse width modulation for a broad array of possibilities.
Unlock an Astonishing Range of Possibilities through the Plugin’s Unique Syncing Features
No other RingMod plugin gives you such a wide variety of syncing options. For example, you can cause the ringing to immediately sync with the playhead as a straight, quarter note pulse, or as an offbeat triplet, or 64th notes. Taking into account that you can also sync the Flanger, Chorus, and Filter LFO, the options are astounding!
You can even choose to quantize the sync frequency to pitch, instead of bpm, giving you a variety of melodic ringing options. No other RingMod comes close to offering you that level of control.
Choose from a Variety of Transforms
This plugin is the only RingMod plugin out there giving you the option to use waveforms other than Sine for the Ringing Effect. This means you can alter the sound in more than just the typical “robot voice” way. Instead, experiment with a variety of syncing, precise, and unique transforms. You can even skew the waveforms through pulse width modulation to get even more variation.
Full Automation of all Parameters
RingMod gives you the ability to fully automate any of the plugin’s parameters (cutoff frequency, resonance, LFO frequency, LFO range, duty cycle warping, and wet/dry mix). This powerful feature unlocks the plugin’s full potential by allowing you to create more complex and expressive sounds than what’s possible with manual tweaking.

Stagecraft’s RingMod allows you to save your presets and even share them with other SC RingMod users online.
