5 Premium Cymbals for Kontakt
Sample instrument that features 5 crash cymbals sampled with 5 articulation including sustains, bell, edge, mod-wheel controlled rolls and effects. With 3 microphone positions and lots of features, this library is the only one you’ll ever need for creating realistic cymbal tracks.
Overview
Use the mod-wheel to control the intensity of the rolls, resulting in a perfectly smoothed cymbal performance. No more time-fixed rolls that don’t match your track, with Suspended Cymbals you can play them in any way you want.
Main User Interface
In the main interface, you can see the 5 cymbals: 3 Zildjian, 1 Paiste and 1 Istanbul. Each one of these cymbals will give you a different tonal character to choose whichever better suits your track, or why not use them all together?
By clicking on them you’ll be able to set their volume, pan and pitch individually.
Mixer
Suspended Cymbals features a full mixer with which you can control the three mic positions separately:
- Close: recorded with a Neumann KM184 placed close to the cymbal.
- Mid: recorded with two Neumann TLM 103 placed at a mid-distance in XY.
- Far: recorded with binaural Neumann KU-100 at the back of the room.
With a load/purge switch for each channel, pan, volume, mute/solo, stereo width from 100% stereo to mono and output selector for mixing the different channels on your DAW.
Effects
The library features Wavesfactory's advanced effect script that lets you insert any effect chain in any channel separately, including:
- High-Quality EQ.
- Various types of compressors.
- Modulation: chorus, flanger, phaser.
- Distortion / Saturation / Tape
- Algorithmic and convolutional reverb with more than 40 custom impulse responses.
- Amp simulators.
This script boosts exponentially the sonic capabilities of the library, easy to use in a simple and elegant design.
Settings
From the settings page, you can control basically any parameter you might ever need. Divided into four sections you can find:
- Round robin: the instrument was sampled with 4 true round-robin repetitions, you can select the number you want and the rest will be purged from memory in order to reduce RAM usage.
- Dynamic range: control the difference between the loudest and quietest hits.
- Velocity curve: control how the library reacts to incoming midi notes.
- Voicing: how many simultaneous voices you want per cymbals and the fade out time applied when cutting a voice.
- Envelope: set the attack and decay time ballistics for the cymbals.
- Volumes: control the volume of each articulation separately.
