NEOLD BIG AL

Unique Harmonics

BIG AL is a dual-stage tube saturator that offers a broad palette of marvelous sound flavors flowing from the interactive network within its transformer-coupled pre and power amp. Based on completely novel circuitry and authentic NOS components from the 1930s, the one-off analog hardware has been exclusively designed for this plugin.

Filter Freak

BIG AL's frequency conditioning begins right in the EF9 preamp stage. The Low control is implemented as a Baxandall filter which allows adjusting saturation intensity around 100Hz in optional combination with boosting or cutting the bass at the same time.

The High control is an additional EQ band placed in front of the preamp tube. Its peaking filter boosts or cuts high-frequency content around 10kHz which is essential for inciting or taming BIG AL's treble aggression potential.

Onboard Mods

A jumper matrix grants access to BIG AL's core circuitry: Emphasis Shift, Bass Compensator and Voltage Sag provide powerful options for making complex changes to the distortion profile on the fly by inserting or pulling a few simple plugs.

The finishing spice is added by the AL4 power pentode and its output transformer, driven hot by the preamp stage. The result? A truly gorgeous kind of harmonic saturation that will always sound organic, musical, and bold.

NEOLD U2A

Add vintage optical compression to your mixes

The U2A is a unique LA-2A-style opto compressor plugin. It retains all the tone, bold minimalism, and beautiful nonlinearities that made the LA-2A famous while providing the control and flexibility that are necessary for modern music production. NEOLD’s U2A is great for vocals, bass, drums, and stereo buses.

Blend between different eras of optical compressors

Analog LA-2As can sound substantially different from one another depending on age, components, and condition. Everyone has their favorite era; while some 2A plugins try to address this by offering alternate models, the NEOLD U2A takes it further. Thanks to the unique “Aging” knob, you can continuously vary the character from that of a freshly serviced unit with a new opto cell to an age-old vintage device in its original, unaltered state.

Apply LA-2A style compression to more sources than ever

The U2A compressor modernizes the classic 2A design by adding a "Recovery" control for adaptable release times. It also features a "Drive" knob, which independently adjusts saturation, allowing for precise coloration without affecting the amount of compression applied. This makes the NEOLD U2A more versatile and easier to use than a classic LA-2A, catering to a broad range of sound sources.

NEOLD U17

Analog Heritage

In 1954, a truly unique compressor appeared on the scene: the U17. Built by Allgemeine Telefon-Fabrik in Hamburg for the NWDR broadcasting network, only a few dozen units of this exemplary analog masterpiece were manufactured, making this gem one of the rarest compressors ever built.

Crossing Bridges

The U17 combines a solid state diode bridge using Germanium crystal semiconductors with all-tube and massive transformer-coupled amplification – a most sophisticated hybrid design. The best of both worlds!

The original hardware was intended to provide gentle and unobtrusive compression, and the plugin offers just that in the most beautiful way… but it also adds a couple of serious setscrews, mutating the gentleman into a veritable two-face.

Dignified Power

A preceding soft clipper adds pleasant coloration while taming heavy transients before entering the actual compressor, which can blend from gentle and transparent to straight and aggressive operation with its powerful Torque control. In fact, the U17 combines everything we love about the golden era of analog design with a very modern and experienced approach to dynamics processing.

NEOLD V76U73

A Piece of German audio history

Capture the vibe of one of the richest sounding tube preamps and compressors. The NEOLD V76U73 is an emulation of the Telefunken V76 and U73, which are legendary pieces of audio history. The V76 preamp was designed with nearly unlimited funding from the German government and has enhanced countless songs from the 1950s until today. With the nickname "The German Fairchild," the U73 compressor/limiter used a variable mu design that made it incredibly popular with mastering engineers in Europe until 1980 when it was discontinued.

Get rich low end and smooth highs

With a rich and enchanting low end, along with some of the smoothest highs you’ll ever hear, it’s no wonder that the original V76 preamps have all been snatched up for top dollar by high-end studios and collectors all around the world.
