Cell Sampler is a creative tool for generating random sequences.

Drop samples into the grid, then set off chain reactions of cells with your keyboard.

Drop in your Samples

The Cell Sampler will analyze and automap them, putting each sample in its own cell.


Activate Cells

click

Click or drag on cells to make them dead or alive. Shift+Drag to box-select


Start a Chain Reaction

Play any note to start a sequence of generations. On each generation, living cells may play their sample. Cells only playing their sample if it is not already playing

CELL RULES

Rule 1

Death by over-population if number of neighbors is greater than 3


Rule 2

Death by under-population if number of neighbors is less than 2

Rebirth by reproduction if number of neighbors is exactly equal to 3

OPTIONS

Mapping

Click Learn, then play a note. It will save whichever cells are dead and alive. Now you can get back to that by playing the mapped note.With Add enabled, the whole grid won’t be overwritten by mappings. Only the mapping’s alive cells will be added.Click Un-Learn, then play a yellow note to get rid of its mapping.

Turn off the dots to restrict played pitches to a scale

Add or Remove Cells

Grid size ranges from 1-16, both x and y axes

Move Living Cells with CC's

CC11 to move them side-to-sideCC1 to move them up-and-down

System Requirements

  • Kontakt Player Version 7.3 or above (will also work in Full Kontakt Version 7.3 or above)
  • Windows 10/11
  • Intel Macs (i5 or higher): macOS 10.15, 11 or 12 (latest update)
  • Apple Silicon Macs (via Rosetta 2 & natively on ARM in Standalone or in hosts that support it): macOS 11 or 12 (latest update).
  • Presets include samples taken from other Osterhouse Sounds libraries, synthesized sounds, and recordings of household objects. These samples are available as WAV files

Note: This product is compatible with the FREE Native Instruments Kontakt Player 7.3 or later.

Installation Instructions

Mac

1. Download the .dmg installer file from your Plugin Boutique account.

2. Double-click the .dmg file to install Native Access.

3. Open Native Access > Create a new Native ID if you do not have one already. If you do, skip ahead to step 5.

4. You will then receive an email with a confirmation link > Open the email and click 'CONFIRM EMAIL'.

5. Log in to Native Access with your Native ID.

6. Click 'Add a serial'

7. Enter your Serial Number found in your Plugin Boutique account > Click 'ADD SERIAL'.

8. Click the 'Not installed' tab > Locate Pathfinder Cello > Click 'INSTALL'.

9. Pathfinder Cello is now installed on your system.

10. Open Kontakt in your DAW > You should see Pathfinder Cello on the left sidebar > Click the drop-down bar and drag the .nki file into the middle of the window.

Your software is now ready to use in your DAW!

Windows

1. Download the .zip installer file from your Plugin Boutique account.

2. Double-click the extracted .exe file to begin the installation process > click ‘Run’.

3. Read the welcome message > click 'Next'.

4. Click 'Next' to begin the installation.

5. Native Access has now been installed > Click 'Finish'.

6. Open Native Access > Create a new Native ID if you do not have one already. If you do, skip ahead to step 8.

7. You will then receive an email with a confirmation link > Open the email and click 'CONFIRM EMAIL'.

8. Log in to Native Access with your Native ID.

9. Click 'Add a serial'.

10. Enter your Serial Number found in your Plugin Boutique account > Click 'ADD SERIAL'.

11. Once your serial has been registered, click 'VIEW PRODUCTS NOT INSTALLED'.

12. Click the 'Not installed' tab > Locate Pathfinder Cello > Click 'INSTALL'.

13. Your new Kontakt Instrument is now installed on your system.

14. Open Kontakt in your DAW > You should see Pathfinder Cello on the left sidebar > Click the drop-down bar and drag the .nki file into the middle of the window.

Your software is now ready to use in your DAW!
