That's what pulsed through the team at Cinematique Instruments' minds when they were asked to write the music for two scary TV movies. They didn't just want to compose—they wanted to unleash something. Something that breathes. That scratches. That screams. That's new!. So they built a horror machine. An eerie board.
The Cinematique Instruments team mounted screws, rusty springs, bent metal sheets, and long nails on a wooden board. Then they wired it with piezo pickups and ran the scratching, hammering, banging, and rubbing through a whole battalion of effects for days. The result wasn't just sound. It was emotionally unstable electricity.
The result? Far beyond expectations: Nordic Noir is no ordinary horror or suspense kit. It's a living, breathing soundscape of dread. It doesn't whisper. It growls. It doesn't follow rules. It shatters them. This isn't just a collection of creepy textures. A unique, untamed language of tension. Growling bass that breaks your spine. Subsonic rumbles from the edge of the void. 3 Sound Slots
Nordic Noir's sound is created by 3 sound layers. Each slot has its own volume and tune from -36 to 36 semitones.
80 Sounds
The sound sources were lovingly created and collected over a period of 2 years. The foundation and core are the sounds generated by a custom-built Eerie Board. See our "Behind the Scenes" video here The sounds are divided into Drones, Eerie Board, Strings, and Unusual.
65 Presets or Dice Function
There is a comprehensive collection of 65 presets from the categories DEEP DRONES, STRINGS, SUSPENSE, and MYSTERIOUS. The presets are a wonderful template for many genres from suspense, horror, and nightmare. But if that's not enough, or you're looking for something unique? Roll the dice and randomize everything.
ModWheel Dynamic Programming
Nordic Noir allows you to define all (!) parameters of slot volume and tune, as well as all master effects, via separate tables. These parameters can be individually adjusted by moving the ModWheel. This allows you to create highly complex and dynamic sound textures.
Main FX
To add the finishing touches to the overall sound, Nordic Noir offers numerous master effects. Bit Crusher, Tape Simulation, Overdrive, High- and Low-Pass with Resonance, Mid Control, and Reverb.
10 Separate Reverb Types
Nordic Noir comes with 10 specially selected reverb types.

Note: Mociula is used as the example.
1. Download the software folder from your Plugin Boutique account.
2. Unzip and extract the folder within and save it to a computer destination/folder of choice.
3. Launch Kontakt and click 'Browse' > Select 'Files,' which is located at the top left hand corner of Kontakt's interface.
4. Locate the instrument folder from the computer destination/folder that you saved it to > Select the Instruments sub-folder.
5. Once you locate the instrument.nki file, drag and drop it into the blank space which is available on the right hand side of Kontakt's interface.
6. Your instrument is now loaded into Kontakt and ready-to-use!
