Introducing oriental colours and textures to the Origins series - Vol.4 Oud & Quanun!
As with all Origins libraries, you can play both instruments independently or in beautiful concord via the build-in Multi-Arpeggio-Designer (MAD). Choose from numerous tasteful patterns and presets that will kickstart your own creative journey with the instrument and drive your inspiration forward.
Designed with a focus on user-friendliness to facilitate an expedient workflow, Oud & Quanun is an excellent companion in the quest for authentic, fresh and captivating musical experiences.
As always, the ability to play both instruments interlocking, independently, with inspiring patterns as well as single notes, chords and rhythms on the fly with full customization options will help you keep an expedient workflow as well as achieve truly unique results.
The instruments
The Qanun (قانون), a renowned Arabian relative of the Zither, is famous for its unique, melodramatic sound. The Oud (عود: literally “wood”) has been the key instrument across Middle Eastern and North African traditional and popular music for centuries, even millenniums in its region of origin. This forerunner of the European Lute impresses with its signature sound, enjoys the spotlight in your mix and pairs splendidly with the Qanun.
Multi-arpeggio designer
The multi-arpeggio-designer is the centrepiece of every Origins instrument. Two fully customizable arpeggiators create interlocking patterns and broad soundscapes by combining the unique timbres of the two instruments. The engine is designed to convey a musically meaningful, human performance, instead of a computer randomly aligning notes. Load up one of 100+ inspiring presets or create your own arpeggios in as much detail as you like. The MAD provides a variety of different features and controls to realize your musical vision.
Created your own ingenious arpeggio design and want to use it with another Origins product? Simply copy and paste your design to use it on the fly in any other instrument of the Origins series.
Colours menu
The 12 individual colour presets provide even more possibilities to sculpt your sound. All colours are radically different in character and incorporate various effect settings and multiple impulse responses. While each MAD-Preset has an assigned colour preset, you can combine everything at will, resulting in over 1200 predefined combinations.

- Full version of Native Instrument’s Kontakt (version 5.7.3 or higher) – Please note: The free Kontakt player is NOT sufficient.
- macOS 10.11 or higher, Intel Core 2 Duo

- 4GB RAM
- At least 400 MB of free hard disc space
Important note: The full version of Kontakt (version 5.7.3 or higher) is required to use this instrument. The free Kontakt player will NOT work and will run in demo mode.
Important Note: Origins Vol. 1-5 Bundle- Oud & Qanun is used as an example.
1. Download the Kontakt Library files from within your Plugin Boutique User Account.
Note: If your download is a .zip file, please unzip it.
2. Move the folder to a location of your choice.
3. Open Kontakt within your DAW.
4. Open the 'Files' tab and navigate to the location of your new Kontakt library.
5. Click and drag the .nki file into the empty window.
Your Kontakt instrument is now installed and ready to use.
