Product information

Aeolian Fan Harp is a unique hand-made instrument created by Dust Bowl Guitars. Based on the concept of a traditional ancient Greek wind harp, this 12-stringed non-fretted hollow-body instrument incorporates a 120mm PC fan under the strings near the bridge to produce its own wind! And rather than nylon strings, it uses steel-wound strings and electric guitar pickups. When plucked while the fan is off, it has a sound similar to a baritone electric guitar. Powering up the fan generates a lush steady drone, but the real magic begins when you bow, scrape, gliss or excite the strings and set off extraordinary cinematic clusters, sound effects and undulating drones. This experiment was built over three long months and sampled in outstanding detail by Soundiron contributors John Valasis and Konstantinos Sakkas.

This nearly 14 GB library includes a close stereo microphone position as well as a direct stereo pickup line out, so you can dial in an electric or acoustic sound just the way you like it with the help of the handy modular FX rack, full of amp and speaker simulators, multi-FX and custom convolution reverb impulses.

Artist - John Valasis

Yumtone H4 was recorded by John Valasis. John is a Greek-born composer, producer and sound designer. From his Athens based studio, he delivers scoring, foley and sound design services for many local and international clients. John's clientele includes prestigious brands like Native Instruments, Ableton, Soundiron, Virgin, Amazon Prime Video, Vice Magazine and BBC. John is also on the roster of Ninja Tune's imprint Just Isn't Music, alongside artists like Amon Tobin, Bonobo, Flying Lotus and The Cinematic Orchestra.

John's professional experience began in the 90s as a composer and producer for popular music and gradually expanded his skill-set across a large variety of genres. With the abilities he acquired through his 20-year professional career, as well as his genuine love for soulful music, he has crafted a strong, personal and diverse musical identity. When not working on tight deadlines, John uses Poordream as a vehicle to freely express his emotions and influences and to explore sound and composition beyond the boundaries of conventional electronic music.
