The legendary Groove Activator returns — three decades on.

Groove Activator App is a virtual drum instrument for macOS in AU, VST3, AAX and standalone formats, created by drummer, producer and composer Gota Yashiki — known for his work with Simply Red, Seal and Soul II Soul.

Every sound was performed and recorded by Gota Yashiki at AJITO Studio, his private room in Kyoto built inside a converted kura — a traditional Japanese storehouse. Close, overhead and room microphones, through a vintage recording chain, capture the natural dynamics and character of each kit together with the distinctive ambience of the room itself.

Inspired by the original Groove Activator sampling CD of 1995, the instrument has been completely rebuilt for the modern studio, pairing acoustic drum kits with creative production tools.

Analog Activator recreates the character of classic analog drum machines, letting vintage electronic sounds blend into the acoustic kits.

Slice Activator lets you import, slice and map your own samples into custom drum kits in seconds.

Ten recorded kits are included, expandable with additional Drum Kit Packs — including future signature collections from Gota Yashiki and collaborations with other artists.
