As we rolled into the new millenium, R&B experienced a major shift, spearheaded by artists like Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, J Dilla and the wider Soulquarians collective. Sessions at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village saw them dusting off the vintage synths and kits of the two previous decades, and pairing analog warmth and organic live sessions with modern sampling and production techniques. AQUARIUS EARTH takes up the palette of earthy tones, funk groove, hip-hop percussion and infectious melody that brought the soul back to the 90s and beyond.
