VMEQ-5 was modeled after the most essential mid-range EQ of the past 60 years. It’s the go-to tool for enhancing guitars and vocals, which will add true vintage punch whether you’re tracking, mixing, or mastering.
Our ears are especially sensitive to mid-range sounds. This is where most of the human voices are and thus we are adjusted to respond strongly to even minor issues in this particular part of the frequency specter. VMEQ-5 is the mid-range's best friend. It was designed to handle everything between 300-5000 Hz. It comes with two peak bands and a dip band, and that's all you need to give your vocals, synth, guitar leads, snare drum, or woodwinds the analog punch they need. Slap this little beast on a full mix to clean up a murky midrange. Feed it anything mid-heavy and it will help you to precisely sculpt and control it in your session.
History
The hardware inspiration of VMEQ-5 dates back to 1955 but it was in 1961 when the unit was refined to perfection with extra controllable frequencies and a tube gain stage. Later on, in the unit’s final years of production, the tube design was switched to solid-state With or without valves, this EQ has been a studio classic for over 60 years and it’s no surprise that 30 years after it was originally discontinued it was revived in hardware form. Still, as not everyone can afford this piece of 1960s magic, Antelope Audio are providing you with a modern-day authentic emulation of this vintage classic in all of its full-on vintage power.
