The Ultimate Drum Bleed Treatment
MDrumCleaner solves the eternal issue of bleed when recording drums. It implements 5 advanced algorithms, which you can use separately or all at once, and which made even the hardest situations possible. 2 of these algoriths are even usable live. No more hihat in your snare mic, cymbals in the toms etc... You can use MDrumCleaner for other instruments too, but let's face it, drums are the most difficult by far.
Cymbal Killer
The Cymbal Killer implements the classic trick with a filter focused on your drum (say, snare drum), which filters out the high frequencies, where the hi-hat & cymbals exist, and opens that high end only when the drum is being hit to avoid altering its sound too much.
Side-chain Remover
Removing something else from your sound is possible if you have recorded it too. An obvious example: hi-hat bleed in your snare mic. You probably record both, so just let your drummer play hi-hat only for a few seconds, so that the plugin can analyse how it sounds in both mics and then use the side-chain remover to magically remove it from your snare mic. It is the first spectral module and, as such, it introduces latency, so it probably won't be usable live, but it can be a lifesaver in your studio.
Spectrum Cleaner
Learn how your drum sounds and then make the plugin remove anything outside of that fingerprint. Simply let you drummer play one drum for a few seconds and let the plugin analyse it. That's it. Another magical spectral module.
Spectrum Gate
Removing frequencies that are too quiet almost seems too simple, but it's remarkably efficient. No need to analyse anything. It just works simply because the drum you are recording is pretty much always louder than the bleed. That is the last magical spectral module.
Gate
Gating may be the classic, but this gate is on quite a different level, as you will see when trying it!
