ZTEKNO MIDI Mutator 2.0 is a generative MIDI engine for electronic music. Pick a style and a substyle, press MUTATE, and a complete set of MIDI appears: lead, arp, pluck, bass, pad, stab, chord, atmosphere, a 303 line and a counter-melody - written for each other, in the same key, on the same harmony and in the groove of the genre.

Version 2.0 is the biggest update since launch. Every one of the 138 substyles now has its own generator for every part, so a Raw / Hypnotic arp never sounds like a Liquid Drum & Bass arp, and a Jersey Club bass never sounds like a Deep House one. The parts develop like a producer plays them - answers, octave throws, turnarounds and pickups - while each part keeps its opening rhythm through the loop.

It is not about handing your track to a machine. MIDI Mutator gives you a fast, musical starting point and every tool to shape it: lock what you love, regenerate the rest, edit the notes, then drag one card, a selection or the whole set into your DAW. Everything you generate is royalty-free for commercial use.

• Eight new main styles: UK Garage, Bass Music / Dubstep, Electro, Synthwave, Hard Dance, Lo-Fi & Leftfield House, Club Grooves and Italo & Space Disco.
• Three new Techno substyles: Hard Groove, Schranz and Industrial / EBM Techno.
• An own generator for all ten parts in every substyle - from Deep Emotional Piano at the light end to Frenchcore at the heavy end.
• Two generator families in every set: the new engines and the classic 1.2 generators, picked per generation for even more variety.
• Raw / Hypnotic, Modular Techno and Modular Anomalies rebuilt: serious, rough, hypnotic sequences with polymetric cycles, register scatter, octave throws up and down, dotted and triplet techniques.
• Hardware-style 303: every Acid part follows the TB-303's own gate, tie, slide and accent behaviour; Acid Techno gets a hard, driving lead 303 with a second 303 answering it.

New in 2.0: Shape Every Part

• Regenerate, Notes and Rhythm keys on every card: a new idea, new notes on the same rhythm, or a new rhythm for the same notes - each one chosen to fit the harmony and groove of the other cards.
• Length (staccato to legato), Direction for arps (forward, backward, ping-pong, around), Polymeter cycles of 3 to 11 sixteenths, octave, lock, mute and solo on every card.
• Humanize, Density and Colour sliders for every unlocked card at once: loosen timing and velocity, thin or fill a part with ghost notes, keep the harmony plain or add 9ths, 11ths and 13ths.
• Variety and Evolve: from a strict repeat of the opening to a new development in every block - or the same set again with fresh answers.
• 27 harmonies, including Phrygian Dominant, Hungarian Minor, Hirajoshi, Whole Tone, Chromatic and your own User Scale.

New in 2.0: Note Editor

• Double-click any card to open a piano-roll editor in its own resizable window.
• Draw, move, stretch and delete notes, snap them to the key, drag velocity bars up and down.
• Copy a phrase from one card and paste it into another; undo and redo inside the editor.
• Audition every note as you edit and play the card at your project tempo; APPLY writes the card's MIDI as one step of undo.

New in 2.0: A DAW Track for Every Part

• Card Outputs send every card on its own MIDI channel (Lead 1 ... Counter 10), so each part can play its own instrument track while the DAW plays.
• A built-in guide explains the routing for REAPER, Bitwig Studio, Cubase / Nuendo, FL Studio and Ableton Live.
• Exported .mid files stay on channel 1 for drag and drop.

New in 2.0: Look and Feel

• Six colour themes: Amber, Crimson, Arctic, Emerald, Violet and Graphite.
• A redesigned settings window, hints that can be switched off, a 3D MUTATE key and an interface that scales from 75% to 200%.
