Pitch Innovations has announced the release of Tapes of India, a new collection of playable folk rhythm kits for its World Music Sampler Platform, Sonic Atlas.
Built around some of the most recognizable percussion sounds used across South Indian folk music, street celebrations, and film productions, Tapes of India captures the raw rhythmic energy that has shaped generations of cinematic dance records and festival performances.
From primal Parai ensembles and explosive Dappu street drums to the unmistakable tapes rhythms heard across countless Kuthu film songs, these kits deliver some of the most authentic and exotic percussion textures created for Sonic Atlas.
Rather than functioning as traditional loop libraries, the Tapes Kits combine playable one-shots, loops, velocity-sensitive performances, round robins, and microphone mix controls, allowing users to shape the movement, intensity, and scale of each ensemble directly inside their DAW.
Each instrument has also been recorded as solo, duo, and full ensemble performances, giving producers the flexibility to create anything from intimate folk grooves to massive festival-scale percussion arrangements.
Designed for cinematic scoring, electronic music, hybrid productions, trailer composition, and modern folk-inspired records, Tapes of India brings the energy of authentic South Indian percussion ensembles into contemporary workflows.
