This Tama Star drum kit represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship, innovation, and sound. Handcrafted in Japan with the finest materials, it delivers unparalleled resonance, sensitivity, and dynamic range.

This unique kit has been custom-treated and positioned by Gröndahl’s David Castillo to perfectly resonate in the room. Recording drummers often bring their own kit to Gröndahl, but unanimously end up switching to Castillo’s house kit after experiencing the difference.

The Kicks

The antidote for robotic machine gun kicks

Experience double kick drums captured with true stereo positioning. Play the kit with a single centered kick, or switch to separately captured left/right kicks, a surefire way to avoid robotic “machine gun” kick patterns.

Addictive Drums 2’s Alternating kick feature will play back any rapid-fire double kick MIDI pattern in a natural-sounding and realistic “every-other-hit” sequence, without you having to change a MIDI note.

The new Terminator: King of all snares

This luxurious 14x6.5” Tama Mastercraft “The Bell Brass” 50th Anniversary Reissue was so special, we captured it three times, in three different tunings (high, medium, and low). Regardless of your track’s instrumentation, one of these will sit perfectly in the mix. The gunshot-like crack in this snare is loud, legendary and cuts through just about anything.

Blast beat brass

This 14x3.5” Pearl Free Floating Brass snare is made for the hardest hitting blast beats and ferocious fill-ins. Its signature snap and attack cuts through walls of guitar like nothing else, and the high tuning and snappy response caters to intricate playing and an infernal array of hits.

Bottom-heavy brutality

The lush warmth of Paiste

The Modern Heavy ADpak features peak Paiste craftsmanship from the classic 2002 series and 602 Modern Essentials. These cymbals blend the legendary warmth and clarity of the original 602 series with a modern, expressive touch.

They deliver a perfect balance of crisp articulation, rich musicality, and dynamic versatility. Handcrafted from Paiste’s signature B20 bronze, the cymbals offer shimmering highs, warm lows, and a smooth, complex wash. Pure, responsive, and beautifully nuanced, Paiste redefined cymbal excellence.

A battle scarred special

The cymbal selection includes a one-of-a-kind Paiste Flanger Stack, complete with battle scars from the previous owner Eloy Casagrande’s explosive playing style.

It was donated to Studio Gröndahl’s collection by Casagrande after recording Sepultura’s “Machine Messiah”, using the very same kit featured in this ADpak.

The live room is designed for versatility. With high ceilings and a combination of hard and soft materials, it offers a wonderfully expensive sound that can only be found in a studio of this caliber.

This MIDIpak features the powerful playing of drummer Dylan Watson, known for his work with Kassogtha and Cân Bardd, and occasional live session drummer for Unearth. It includes over 300 MIDI files at various tempos, organized into compact beat variations and full song structures.

The drumming is heavily inspired by iconic heavyweights like Gojira, Pantera, Opeth, and Rammstein, delivering an authentic and dynamic modern heavy experience. Watson’s hard-hitting beats filled with speed, feel, and finesse make this MIDIpak an essential addition for any metal and heavy production.

Ross Robinson Studios - Los Angeles

When you think of a metal studio you might not think of sunny Venice Beach California but that's where Ross Robinson creates his raw in-to-the-bone sound. Known as The Godfather of Nu Metal, Robinson is world-renowned for his production skills, having presided over seminal albums for bands like Sepultura and Limp Bizkit as well as discovering bands like Korn, Slipknot, and Limp Bizkit. His place in the pantheon of metal is unquestioned.

As a producer, Ross always pushes a band (sometimes physically) all the way to their limits to get to the core of the realest and rawest performances. He often records the whole band gathered tight around the drums, feeling their energy as the heartbeat of the song, and to make sure everyone feels the raw power of the drummer, he built "The Grotto", a small room whose walls and floor are covered in actual ROCK! The punch and rawness Ross gets out of this man-made drum cave is elemental magic.

Custom Kit - Ludwig Classic Maple

This 18 piece kit delivers the goods in any style of Metal. It comprises thunderous maple toms, and a heavy kick from Ludwig, vicious Zildjian cymbals and a sharp balanced snare from Gretsch, made of HAMMERED METAL, just in case you needed convincing! Seeing as this ADpak is designed to allow you to go all in, we've added a special feature that's a must for the modern Metal producer; "Trig" samples (recorded with extra attack and shorter decay) for putting in the Xtra slot and beefing out the kick and snare.

Oh, and it was all hand-picked and tuned by metal legend Ross Robinson for the recording sessions. No biggie!
