Weight, drive and character. One knob deep.
MASS adds weight, drive and character to anything you put through it, from a gentle lift on the mix bus to a growling, parallel-crushed bass.
One large control, Mass, sets how hard the signal is pushed. Three styles decide the flavour. Modern is clean and dense, adding solidity without obvious colour. Vintage is warm and asymmetric, with a slow, tape-like drift that keeps sustained sounds alive. Resonant drives a tuneable mid band into clipping and adds it in parallel, so a reese can growl and a snare can crack while the sub underneath stays exactly where it was.
Around that core sit the tools that put the character where you want it. Focus tilts the tone darker or brighter, or tunes the resonance anywhere from 250 Hz to 3.5 kHz. Phase, a six-stage all-pass disperser, reshapes transients and thickens attacks. An equal-power Mix gives you parallel saturation without losing the original, and Input and Output trims of ±24 dB cover everything from a whisper of density to full destruction.
Saturation makes things louder, and louder fools everyone. MASS takes loudness out of the decision. Auto Gain level-matches the output to the input, so you hear tone rather than volume. Delta plays only what MASS is adding, so you can hear exactly which transients it is catching and which harmonics it is building before you commit.
Under the hood, MASS is built to behave in a real session. Linear-phase oversampling up to 8x covers the saturation and the hard clipper alike, and its latency is reported to your host for automatic compensation. Host bypass is click-free and stays time-aligned. Automation recorded from the MASS window comes out as clean, continuous moves in Touch and Latch, and the resizable interface explains every control as you hover over it.
Made by an independent developer and drum and bass producer, with bass music, DnB and hip-hop in mind, and equally at home on vocals, guitars and the mix bus.
Modes
- Modern - clean and dense. Transparent saturation that adds density, solidity and level without an obvious colour. Turn it up and things get thicker long before they sound distorted. For mix buses, drum buses, sub and mid-bass that must stay tight, and vocals that need presence without grit.
- Vintage - warm and alive. An asymmetric curve that adds even harmonics and a rounder tone, with a slow wow-and-flutter style drift that keeps sustained sounds subtly moving. DC-blocked, so it stays centred. For breaks, room mics, vocals, guitars, synths and samples.
- Resonant - bark and bite. A resonant band between 250 Hz and 3.5 kHz is driven into asymmetric clipping and added in parallel to the dry signal, so the low end and the top stay exactly as they were. For reese growl, 808 bark, kick knock, snare crack and vocal presence. Automate Focus for vowel-like movement.
