u-he TyrellN6 Synth

u-he are known for their prestigious synths, like Diva, Hive and Zebra. What a lot of people don’t know is that they have a pretty decent free synth up for grabs too, and that synth goes by the name TyrellN6. With over 580 presets and a wide array of onboard features, TyrellN6 has everything you need to make some hefty sound designs without spending a penny.

This synth was originally based on ideas for a hardware instrument by Amazona (www.amazona.de), but it never officially made the cut. After a long process of ups and downs, u-he offered to turn the concept into a software version. And thus, TyrellN6 was born, agreed to be released as free by both parties. The original concept was designed to be as streamlined as possible, with no panel switching or menu diving.

Delirion is a three-band Doppler shifter plugin, which its developer says can be “reminiscent of a fever dream” at extreme settings.

The three triangles you’ll see on the interface represent the low, mid and high bands, each housing its own Doppler shifter effect. VRAC

VRAC is a sample-based drum machine designed to turn any sound into a drum kit. Yep, you can input any sample, choose between Kick, Snare, Hat and Clap, and VRAC is off to the races. VRAC can instantly bosh out some pretty gnarly-sounding drums depending on what samples you dunk into it.

There’s an endless stream of drum articulations here, and because you can keep cycling between the four modes via the XY controller, you really feel like the possibilities are infinite. That goes for every single percussive hit you create within VRAC.

At centre stage of the interface, you have a giant Drumify knob, which, you can probably guess, drumifies your sample.
